Personalised Yoga

Yoga is a spiritual path, that brings us back in touch with our true nature.  The practice helps us to cultivate a deeper relationship with ourselves, including our body, breath, thoughts and emotions, and establishes an internal centring so that we can ride the waves of life with greater ease.

Yoga originally referred to meditative practices, and these are emphasised in my teachings. In my experience it is meditation that has the most profound potential for healing, transformation and embodied liberation.

Personalised yoga sessions are designed to meet your individual needs.  At the end of each appointment you’ll be given a tailored programme that you can easily practice at home, so that the benefits of the session can be maintained. All appointments are held via Zoom.

What is meditation?

Meditation is a practice that focuses the mind in order to achieve greater mental clarity and stability and brings us into awareness of our true nature. The practices that I teach embrace every part of the human experience, so we work with all emotions and thought patterns, and everyday situations can therefore become a doorway for meditation. Through these techniques we can begin to examine our concept of reality based on our words, thoughts, stories and labels, and experience the greater reality beneath them. We then become less identified with our limited sense of self and more identified with our true self, which greatly lessons our suffering and increases joy and wellbeing.

Meditation brings our awareness into the inner body, so that we become more familiar with our inner state and the energy pathways and prana flowing in the body. We may work with attention, breath, mantra, mudra, visualisation, feeling states and physical actions, depending on the intension and individual needs. If working with yoga postures this is done is such a way that we observe how placing the body in different positions opens up different energy pathways and meditative states.

Testimonials

What They Say

"I was fortunate to find Julia just over 2 years ago after a particular challenging period with my physical and mental health and wellbeing. Within a short period of time I realised I had found someone whom I could trust to work with me. Julia brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and a beautifully sensitive and empathic way of working with me. She takes a holistic view of  healing and has guided me steadily on my journey to wellbeing. She has always been accessible, responsive and caring in her approach. I am hugely grateful for her support which has made a very valuable contribution to life."  Norma

"By combining the latest research and diagnostic testing along with a practical, pragmatic and compassionate approach, Julia's help has been invaluable to me in my journey to recovery from ongoing fatigue."  Simon

"Julia Alderman was my therapist for over two years. From our very first telephone consultation, I knew that it would be both a very  beneficial and enjoyable journey for me and that I could fully trust Julia with my health problems. I had been looking for a holistic therapist with an approach which was flexible and non-rigid and which would take into account my lifestyle and situation, whilst addressing the root of some of my chronic health problems and symptoms. I found this, and much more, in Julia. I feel very fortunate and blessed to have had the privilege of being one of her clients." Jill

“I met Julia after looking for a therapist to help with my on-going fatigue, anxiety and digestion problems. Julia became my 'companion' on a 'journey' to full health. Julia brought to this journey a systematic diagnosis of where the issues were (down to a molecular level) and a structured approach to getting me back on track - through a combination of both nutritional supplements and dietary plan. She also offered me hope (that I would fully regain my health), patience and kindness, as well as guidance around other aspects of my lifestyle which would assist in achieving my goal...to get my life fully back! Words alone cannot express my deep and lasting gratitude for Julia's help and encouragement." David

“Julia is an amazing yoga teacher, I have worked with her over the years and feel she creates a calm, restful space, she intuitively knows what helps support me and my body. I feel I’m in safe hands with her and she helps me to get to know my body and spirit more. I would highly recommend her.”  Jennifer
